After this visit, we head for the Port du Bec
This authentic little port is less than 10 minutes from Les Salines. Take the opportunity to make a stopover.
What makes this little port so famous are the many small pontoons supported by stilts.
Today, the port boasts 216 boats. A not-so-small port that’s well worth a visit! This oyster-farming port is now listed in the Vendée’s inventory of natural sites.
Take a few minutes to admire the small fishing boats that come and go in the heart of the port.
Try your hand at the swaying pontoons, supported only by bamboo poles.
At low tide, the landscape is completely different. The boats find themselves stranded, the ocean gives way to a dry beach and calm returns.
The area is increasingly popular with tourists, and small souvenir stores have opened.
There’s also a bar/restaurant, “Le Mord’eau”. Enjoy freshly caught oysters and deliciously prepared dishes.
After this timeless interlude, head for the Bergère beach.
Time to digest. After this hearty meal, it’s time to settle your towel on the warm sand and let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep. This gentle sound, combined with the gentle breeze, will give you little respite before falling into the arms of Morpheus.
Bergère beach is just a few minutes’ drive from Port du Bec.
Its wild character and low visitor numbers make it an ideal beach for relaxation.
After such a day, it’s time to turn back to the campsite.
